美國伊利諾大學研究指出，適度的背景噪音更能讓工作者激發創意。
“The sound of silence isn’t so golden for consumers” and “We found that ambient noise is an important antecedent for creative cognition”, says new research from a University of Illinois expert in new product development and marketing.
70分貝是創意工作的『甜蜜點』，超過這個分貝將會讓創造力產生負面影響。
“What we found is that there’s an inverted-U relationship between noise level and creativity,” Mehta said. “It turns out that around 70 decibels is the sweet spot. If you go beyond that, it’s too loud, and the noise starts to negatively affect creativity. It’s the Goldilocks principle – the middle is just right.”

這個論點非常的有趣，剛好今天我在womany.net看到一篇文章，撰文者指出70分貝大概就是咖啡廳的音量，所以很多創意工作者，很喜歡到咖啡廳工作。
我個人也頗愛這種方式，但最初想法是一杯好的咖啡可以幫助自己的思考，另外舒適的環境以及飄來的咖啡香也可以讓我的心思沉靜不少，但我倒是沒有想過，原來隔壁桌的對話以及杯盤碰撞出的聲音，也可以刺激工作的創意。
